Congratulations to the Breckenridge Visual Art students! They won 6 of the 9 awards granted by nationally renowned artist, Michael Dunn, through the Red Door Art Gallery Breck/Wahp Student Show. Rut Tryggvadottir, Ollie Schmidt, and Liz Fischer all received Honorable Mention awards. Breck students swept the top three places with Shalie Lipp earning second place, Haley Braman first place, and Lexi Tschakert Best in Show. Thanks to all who attended and submitted artwork. Fish and Wildlife/College Biology Ice Fishing Day


The Breckenridge Senior High Knowledge Bowl team competed in their second meet of the season on Friday January 5th at Zion Church in Fergus Falls. Breckenridge Bold earned 2nd place honors while Breckenridge Bell finished in 4th out of 22 teams. The Fargo Davies' teams placed 1st and 3rd.

The Fish and Wildlife students recently visited the Farmers Fur House; they are studying about small mammals and trapping.

The BHS National Honor Society conducted a food drive for the Richland-Wilkin County Food Pantry in December. Students donated such items as: canned vegetables and fruit, cereal, mac & cheese, peanut butter, canned chicken and tuna fish. These items are important for keeping our community members feed during the holiday season. The Breckenridge Senior High Knowledge Bowl team competed in their first meet of the season on Tuesday December 19th at Concordia College in Moorhead. Breckenridge Bold earned 3rd place honors while Breckenridge Bell finished in 6th out of 33 teams in the AA division.

BHS Drama performed "Murder In The Knife Room" by Jonathan Rand on Nov 17-19. The audience enjoyed hearing the motives for murder by such notorious characters as Reckless Cowboy, Floozy, Bearded Scholar and Spooky Pirate along with Serial Killer!

Mysterious Host pleads with his guests not to murder him, but rather find out what he has hidden in his mysterious box.



The BHS Mathletes participated in their annual Adopt-a-Highway program this week. They adopted a 2.5 mile stretch of ditch on Highway 75 and 9 south of Breckenridge in 2006. The students are proud to be able to give back to the community with a service project that benefits us all. For Mrs. Werner's sentence fluency project, Sawyer Gowin helped his classmates remember the FANBOYS acronym by becoming a "FANBOYS mascot." These conjunction words and their required punctuation rules are a huge part of ACT Testing and MCA writing standards. Great job, Sawyer!

We will be holding a 9-12 grade Winter Sports Parent Meeting on Sunday, November 12 starting at 6:30 pm in the high school auditorium. The meeting is for parents only so no need to bring your sons or daughters.



On Wednesday, October 25, members of English 9 and Freshmen Success classes spent time with residents of Twin Town Villa, St Francis Nursing Home, and Pioneer Senior Cottages. They spent an hour playing games, doing art projects, and visiting with one another. The trip helped students complete volunteer hours for Freshmen Success and a Memoir Project for English 9.

The Breckenridge Senior High Mathletes kicked off their season Tuesday by doing their annual community service projects. They spray painted the Sierpinski Tetrahedron metal sculpture located just south of the Ottertail River on Highway 75. They will also be cleaning ditches for the Adopt-a-Highway program. The Mathletes ditch section is on Highway 75 South near the Breckenridge township hall. Pictured above is Lucas Simmer.
