From the desk of Superintendent Strand ...

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Breckenridge School’s website

My passion for education is the reason I am here as Superintendent of Breckenridge Public Schools. This is my 32nd year in education and have been fortunate to spend 31 years in a math classroom teaching all levels in grades 7-12 with the past 9 teaching College Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus and working as an assistant principal.  I have also had the pleasure of being a head basketball coach for all 31 years working with both boys and girls.  I am extremely excited to begin my work in Breckenridge and look forward to meeting district residents and students. The Breckenridge School District has a high level of pride as is exemplified through employee professionalism, vision, and hard work.

It is an extreme honor to be able to work with and serve students, staff, and families of the Breckenridge School District.  I look forward to a great school year in 2021-2022 and making great things happen with great people!  Our Breckenridge vision statement, “Breckenridge Pride … Inspiring to Excel!” is used by all members of our school community to provide an outstanding educational experience for all students.  We feel privileged to work in this amazing profession and are grateful for the opportunity to serve the students in our buildings.

Our school board, administration, and staff are committed to real-world individualized learning for all students.  The student experience at Breckenridge involves active classrooms rich with educational technology staffed with committed teachers trained to engage, inspire, and empower students to be designers of their own learning.  Many teachers use Project Based Learning as a teaching methodology in their classrooms.  Our goal is to prepare students to graduate on time equipped with information and skills our partners in business and industry tell us are needed to be successful in this 21st century in which we live.

We offer numerous opportunities for our students to be involved in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities.  I strongly encourage all students to get involved in at least one activity. Please visit us on Facebook to see more of the great things happening in and outside of our classrooms.
